Principle of the School’s Foundation

“Kei(敬)-ten(天) Ai(愛)-jin(人)”,

a unique and pleasant sounding phrase meaning “Worship Thy Heaven, Love Thy Neighbour.”

--- The Principle of the School’s Foundation ---

The principle of our school’s foundation is “Kei-ten Ai-jin”, a unique, simple, yet amiable phrase meaning “Worship Thy Heaven, Love Thy Neighbour.” The name of our school, “Keiai” was derived from this phrase. For nearly 80 years since its establishment, we have always hoisted our banner of “Kei-ten Ai-jin” with unlimited pride.

“Kei-ten Ai-jin” were the words of Nanshu Saigo, better known as Takamori Saigo, a leader in the Meiji Restoration (1868). The founder of our school, Masaji Nagatoro (the grandfather of the present board chairman), found the origin of education in these words and adopted this concept as principle of the school’s foundation.

The Way to live as human being coexisting with Heaven and Earth

The idea of “Kei-ten Ai-jin (Worship Thy Heaven, Love Thy Neighbour)” inculcated by Nanshu Saigo can be summarized as follows: “Created by the macrocosmic orders of heaven, earth and nature, we, humans, are given a predestined Way to live. It is simple and straightforward. One must revere Heaven for giving birth to us and nurturing us amidst Heaven and Earth. One must give unbounded love to others, all of whom are living the lives equally given by Heaven.”

Emphasis on Heaven’s gifts: human dignity and infinite possibilities.

Our founder’s educational principle inspired by “Kei-ten Ai-jin”

The founder of our school interpreted this idea of “Kei-ten Ai-jin” in the light of education.“Created by the natural orders of heaven and earth, all human beings, with no exception, are gifted with human dignity and infinite possibilities to become better beings. The principle of education is to develop these gifts towards achievement.”
Our very exceptional school culture, in which our educators truly “revere and love” each and every student they educate, was derived from these thoughts.

“Kei-ten Ai-jin (Worship Thy Heaven, Love Thy Neighbour)” is becoming increasingly important in the century.

Claim to uphold universal human dignity and eternal love for man and mankind

The century is occasionally referred to as the “age of the universe, life, and human”, or the “age of the heart”.
“Kei-ten Ai-jin (Worship Thy Heaven, Love Thy Neighbour)” precisely claims to uphold this universal human dignity of the century and the eternal love for man and mankind based on the macrocosmic sense of unity and harmony.
We firmly believe that our students will be blessed with vast hope to live as human being coexisting with Heaven and Earth and promised of utmost spiritual comfort.
